Owyhee River Fishing Report – July 25, 2015

Fly Fishing the Owyhee River

As summer is progressing we are seeing the hatches moving up stream as well as many of the fish. Mornings have been slow, but fish are willing to take nymphs. Through mid-day, anglers have had success throwing terrestrial patterns such as hoppers and ants with droppers. PMDS and caddis have been the dominating hatches with PMDs coming off between 1pm-5pm daily and caddis in the late evenings.

An afternoon trip to the river is acceptable as some of the best dry fly action is in the middle of the afternoon. Working streamers in deep pocket water through out the day could be very productive.

Nymphing has been very productive, Zebra midges, pmd emergers, caddis pupas have all been doing well.

Fill your fly box with small midge patterns, small baetis nymphs, small leech streamers, & wooly buggers. Give TRR Outfitters in Eagle, Idaho a call (208) 939-6065 to book a Fly Fishing Day Trip on the Owyhee.

We’re using PMD’s, midges, callibaetis, & caddis.
