Owyhee River Fly Fishing Report July 30

CFS 165– Tricos are the name of the game for your early morning hatch, bring both male and female spinners in size 20-24. They have been appearing around 7am and tapering off by 11. Expect to see some sporadic Callibaetis and PMD hatches midday. Have plenty of size 16-18 duns, spinners, and emergers. With August right around the corner, terrestrials have been working well during the afternoon, a hopper dropper set up can be deadly. Except to see caddis making their way to the water come evening, and fish can be found sipping midges throughout the day as well. Don’t be afraid to strip a streamer through some of the slower pools and riffle transition zones as some bigger browns have been getting caught this way.
