Henry's Fork Fishing Report July 31

Big Rainbow on Lower Henrys Fork Submitted By TRR Outfitters

As July draws to an end, August marks a time on the Henry’s Fork that should be looked forward to. The bugs sort of slow down when the water gets warm, and the fish get sluggish. Just as the mayflies that once seemed so reliable aren’t so reliable anymore, it’s hopper season. The hopper fishing should really heat up in the coming weeks. In the meantime, up in the Railroad Ranch and Last Chance sections of the river, the cooler weather and the water surge from Island Park Reservoir have brought the water temperature down.

Boise River "In Town" Fly Fishing Report July 30

CFS 849– Flows are starting to drop which is making for some great wade fishing throughout town from highway 21 all the way through Eagle. People floating in rafts and tubes from Barber Park down to Ann Morrison Park make for some tough fishing battling the rubber hatch, so try to fish areas above these areas or below. PMD’s have been hatching on the upper stretches towards highway 21. Carry some sparkle dun patterns, cripples, and emergers size 16-18. look for this hatch to intensify towards the evening. Caddis have been steady after 6pm throughout the town.

Owyhee River Fly Fishing Report July 30

CFS 165– Tricos are the name of the game for your early morning hatch, bring both male and female spinners in size 20-24. They have been appearing around 7am and tapering off by 11. Expect to see some sporadic Callibaetis and PMD hatches midday. Have plenty of size 16-18 duns, spinners, and emergers. With August right around the corner, terrestrials have been working well during the afternoon, a hopper dropper set up can be deadly. Except to see caddis making their way to the water come evening, and fish can be found sipping midges throughout the day as well.
