If your looking for a place to hang out with the family, but still get your fly fix in, Warm River is a good destination. There is a campground next to a mellow bend in the river that makes for easy access to a fun float or fish. Kids can get out there and wade with you if your tossing a fly making it the perfect place to pass on a fly fishing legacy to the next generation.
There is a trail head that follows an old railroad grade up the canyon offering super views of the river as it plunges towards it's confluence with the Henry's Fork. About 5 miles above the trailhead is an old railroad tunnel that gives your family a chance to see a piece of history. Above the tunnel about a mile the river pools up between rapids forming beautiful deep holes that hold fish.
I tried fishing these upper holes very briefly, and had a couple strikes at my hopper.. I decided to throw a hopper/dropper on the mellow section downstream and caught a little rainbow on the prince nymph. My son got a chance to reel a fish in and hold it. Get out there and make some memories! Fish/Camp/Bike at Warm River!
