Owyhee River Fishing Report for October 17, 2016

OWYHEE RIVER

The flows have finally dropped to 30 cfs so nymphing will be a little more difficult. There has been decent midge hatches in the morning till mid-afternoon. Keep an eye out for BWOs on cooler overcast days. Tight lining emergers and small mayfly nymphs without weight can pick up a few fish as well.

It’s that time of the year when the flows are low and the fish are pairing up getting ready to spawn, keep an eye out in riffles for redds and give those fish a break.  Look for morning and mid-afternoon midge and BWO hatches in the slicks.  Tossing some meaty streamers in deeper pools could pick up some hefty browns.

Fill your fly box with small midge patterns, small baetis nymphs, small leech streamers, & wooly buggers.  Give Three Rivers Ranch in Eagle, Idaho a call (208) 939-6065 to book a Fly Fishing Day Trip on the Owyhee.
