Boise River "In Town" Fly Fishing Report July 30

CFS 849– Flows are starting to drop which is making for some great wade fishing throughout town from highway 21 all the way through Eagle. People floating in rafts and tubes from Barber Park down to Ann Morrison Park make for some tough fishing battling the rubber hatch, so try to fish areas above these areas or below. PMD’s have been hatching on the upper stretches towards highway 21. Carry some sparkle dun patterns, cripples, and emergers size 16-18. look for this hatch to intensify towards the evening. Caddis have been steady after 6pm throughout the town. Streamers have been fishing well for some of those elusive Boise River Browns. Try fishing down towards Eagle in the South and North Channels. Sculpin patters in Olive and Black have been working. Nymphing is always productive in town as well using larger BH prince nymphs’ sizes 12-18 dropping variations of zebra midges’ sizes 18-20 and grey hares ear size 16-18.
