Eastern Idaho Fishing Report 6/16/23

Henry’s Fork:

The current flows out of Island Park are 819 cfs. The upper HF in the Box Canyon area has been tough fishing, nymphing is going to produce the best using rubber legs and zebra midge patterns.

We are still seeing salmonflies from riverside down through the mesa area. The Warm River-Ashton section is fishing okay. Using a dry-dropper rig should produce. A large goldenstone or salmonfly pattern will work for up top and then an olive bullet below.

Flows out of the Ashton reservoir are 1,890 cfs. The lower Henry’s Fork is fishing decent, everyday is a little different. We are seeing pmds, caddis, have seen a few green drakes, and a couple of golden stones have been spotted as well. For those fish looking up, using a pmd #18 or a caddis #14 is working well. If there are no fish up, a nymph rig should produce with a rubber leg and non-weighted pheasant tail. Play around with the depth but going deep has been working best lately.

Feel free to stop by our Ashton Fly Shop for a daily report, 1051 Hwy 20 Ashton, ID 83420 208.652.3008, open 7 days a week 8 am – 5 pm.

South Fork:

Flows are currently at 12,500 cfs. Nymphing is going to be the most productive with rubberlegs and heavy tungsten nymphs like your standard bead heads that can get down deep. Using worm patterns has been working too.

The Teton River is starting to clear up. If we can get the weather to shape up a bit, it may come on soon.
